Disposable pay is an amount of a person's wages remaining after subtracting certain statutory or regulatory deductions from gross pay (such as income taxes). These deductions do not include discretionary deductions such as savings bonds, charitable contributions, etc. Disposable pay is used to determine the amount which can be offset from a federal salary, and is used to determine the amount which may be collected from a debtor's non-federal pay through administrative wage garnishment.
