Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure you’re on a federal government site.

The https:// ensures that you are connecting to the official website and that any information you provide is encrypted and transmitted securely.
"Remote likelihood of loss" implies that the chance of the future event or events occurring is slight. If only a remote chance of loss is possible, the federal entity need not record a liability nor provide a note disclosure (see Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Standards Nos. 5 and 12).
