The agency is required to waive interest and administrative costs on a debt paid within 30 days of the date of delinquency. The agency has discretion to waive interest, penalties, and administrative costs in accordance with its regulations, either (1) pursuant to a compromise or settlement agreement, or (2) when collection of these charges is against equity and good conscience or is not in the best interests of the United States.
