A federal award is the federal financial assistance or the cost-reimbursement contract under the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) that a non-Federal entity receives from a federal awarding entity or indirectly through a pass-through entity. Federal funding may be awarded to a company, organization, government entity (e.g., state, local, tribal, federal, or foreign), or individual.
