A Government Account Series (GAS) Security is a Treasury Security that is issued directly by the Secretary to a Government Investment Account and that is non-negotiable and non-transferable, i.e., may not be sold in the Secondary Market, but rather may only be sold back to the Secretary or his designee. GAS Securities are also referred to as Treasury Specials.
