A GSDM validation warning occurs in the Data Broker when certain calculations, comparisons, or field-level format attributes trigger a validation rule for data elements during the submission process. Warnings (soft edits) do not necessarily indicate an error but should be reviewed for data quality. If upon receipt of a warning, an agency reviews the data elements and determines them to be acceptable, it may proceed with certification/publication. Note that this may affect data quality in some instances.
